Our Ride With A Purpose program is our unique method of tracking progress in students as they develop into knowledgeable, safe, and well-rounded equestrians.
Students work to master specific skills in each of the levels and receive recognition for completion when they are able to consistently demonstrate each of the skills to their instructor.
In many cases, achievement of one level is a prerequisite for learning more advanced skills such as jumping or speed events.
These levels are divided into three branches to reflect the main areas of study within our riding school.
The Horse Sense Levels focus on the extensive equine knowledge needed to work with and care for horses successfully.
Testing students on general equine science, equipment knowledge, and veterinary and stable management skills.
The Horsemanship Levels concentrate on the rider’s ability in the saddle.
Developing their balance, confidence, arena etiquette, and safety awareness.
The Horse Centered Levels introduce training and groundwork skills.
This allows students to maintain training in a wide variety of situations while increasing communication and connection with the horse.

Yearly Class Schedule:
M-Th
45-90 min classes (depending on curriculum and level)
5pm-8pm
If a student chooses a class option, a dedicated time and a day of the week where there will be an appropriate school horse and with a group of riders with similar ability reserved each week will be assigned to them. Classes run on a semester basis. Classes cannot be made up or rescheduled.
Fall (10-12 weeks) Winter (8 weeks) Spring (8-10 weeks)
Students must register for all classes within the semester offered.
Lesson Attendance and Weather Adjustments: Monthly tuition is still due in full even when students miss their lessons. In the event that the weather prevents riding, unmounted horsemanship lessons will be substituted. If weather conditions prevent the barn from being open, the lesson will be canceled, and credit for the lesson will be applied back to the student’s tuition account. The best way to get the most value out of the program is to make it a priority and a commitment not to miss your dedicated lesson time(s).

Horseback riding is indeed a challenging and intricate sport that demands strength, endurance, and coordination. At Double Diamond Equestrian Center, safety for both participants and horses is paramount. Therefore, we have established the following guidelines regarding riding level requirements:
- Introductory Level Classes: All new students entering our riding program must begin with Intro level classes. These classes provide a foundational understanding of horsemanship and riding techniques, ensuring a safe and enjoyable learning experience.
- Evaluation for Experienced Riders: Students with previous riding experience have the option to schedule an evaluation with our instructors. This assessment helps determine their proficiency level and ensures they are placed in the appropriate class to maximize their learning and progress.
- Progression Criteria: Moving to the next level is based on more than just participation. Each student must demonstrate proficiency and mastery of skills in their current level before advancing. This includes consistent performance, muscle memory development, and horsemanship skills maintenance.
- Regular Participation: Given the complexity of horseback riding, it's essential for students to maintain their skills on a regular basis. Therefore, if a student has been unable to participate in any riding classes, camps, or private lessons for 3 months or longer, they may be required to repeat a level lower than their previous placement.
- Scheduling
- Advance Payment and Nonrefundable Lessons: Your riding lessons are paid for in advance and are nonrefundable.
- Rescheduling Procedure: If you need to reschedule your lesson, you are responsible for doing so through the original confirmation email. This can only be done if you reschedule greater than 48 hours before your lesson.
- Cancellation Notice: Lessons missed or canceled with less than 48 hours notice will not be made up or credited to your account, regardless of the reason for the absence, including unforeseeable illness or situations.
- Credit for Canceled Lessons: If you cancel your lesson with at least 48 hours notice, you will receive full credit for that lesson to your lesson account.
- Rolling Over Credit: All credit rolls over to the next month unless you have terminated your membership program.
- Late Arrival Policy: If you are 10 minutes late for private lessons or 5 minutes late for a class, you will be considered absent for your lesson and forfeit instruction for that day. This policy ensures that our horses are prepped and exercised correctly and helps us maintain our schedule.
- Communications
- Communication with Instructors: During lesson hours, our instructors are focused on providing top-quality instruction to all our students. Therefore, they do not have time to discuss client goals and concerns on the spot. To ensure that your needs are addressed comprehensively, we kindly request that you schedule a goal setting meeting with your instructor.
- Scheduling Changes and Concerns: We value open communication and want to ensure that your experience with us is positive and rewarding. If you have any scheduling changes or concerns about the program, please communicate them promptly by email to [email protected]. This ensures that your messages are received and addressed in a timely manner.
- No Guarantee
Each rider progresses at their own pace, influenced by various factors such as dedication, practice, natural talent, and individual circumstances.
While our instructors strive to create a supportive learning environment and offer expert guidance, the ultimate outcome depends on the student's commitment and determination.
Therefore, we want to make it clear that the riding school does not warrant or guarantee any specific level of performance or results. We believe in honesty and transparency, and we want our riders and their families to have realistic expectations about their journey with us.
We encourage all riders to approach their training with enthusiasm, perseverance, and a positive attitude. Remember that progress is a journey, and every step forward, no matter how small, is a reason to celebrate.
- Weight Restrictions:
- Riders who will be riding the school's horses must weigh under 165 pounds and have a BMI of 25 or less. These restrictions do not apply to individuals who provide their own horses for lessons.
- Horses can only carry 15-20% of their body weight to ensure their well-being and comfort during lessons.
- Rider Attire and Footwear:
- Proper Riding Attire: Riders must wear helmets, boots with riding heels, and either jeans or breeches. Extremely loose or baggy clothing is not allowed.
- Jewelry Restrictions: Dangling jewelry or rings that may impede the use of reins are not permitted. Hats that may fly off while riding and hoods that may impede visibility are also prohibited.
- Hair Requirements: All students must have their hair secured back and away from their faces. Long hair should be in a low ponytail that does not interfere with wearing a helmet.
- No Chewing Gum: Students are not allowed to chew gum while working with horses on the ground or while riding.
- Dress Code Compliance: Riders must be dressed appropriately to participate in the class.
- Coachability and Attitude: Clients must be coachable, positive, and maintain a good attitude throughout their lessons.
- Helmet Policy:
- Helmets are required to be worn by every student under the age of 18 during all mounted activities.
- Equestrian helmets made to the current ASTM F1163 standard and certified by the Safety Equipment Institute (SEI) are considered to offer the best possible head protection for horseback riding activities.
- Students are required to purchase their own helmet to ensure proper fit and protection and can do so from us.
